The colors and shapes in Free Soul 1 represent many pieces of my past life, with the central color representing hope.
The teal-colored net fabric represents my total self. The parts of the net that are only partly expanded represent the bonds of emotional pain that used to imprison me and limit my life’s possibilities, along with the yearning that I felt to escape those bonds. The fully opened area of the net to the right expresses how my soul escaped from the bonds of pain into the freedom of unlimited possibility, when I learned how to make my life anything that I want it to be.
The Free Soul 2 represents the place where my escaped soul arrived first. This place was like nothing that I had ever seen before, filled with deep water and with rocks that had strange and threatening shapes. There was no comfortable place for my soul to land. However, I still could continue rising up into the sky. The twisting of the rough-textured hemp fabric represents the immense effort that my soul must make to continue its journey upwards in the face of almost-impossible difficulty, but the fabric’s light color expresses my soul’s joy at making continual progress.
Free Soul 1 and Free Soul 2 express what I think about a successful life: As we leave behind our painful ways of thinking, we gain greater ability to struggle upwards through hardship to express joy in our complete selves.
